TrueLabel — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 July 2026

The short version

TrueLabel itself does not collect, store, or share any personal data. No accounts, no analytics, no trackers. The Android app shows advertisements (see "Advertising" below); the web version is completely ad-free.

Advertising (Android app only)

The TrueLabel Android app shows advertisements served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect device information such as advertising identifiers, as described in Google's advertising policy and Google's privacy policy. In the European Economic Area and the UK you will be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, and you can decline. We (the developer) do not receive or store any of this data. Your photos and scan content are never shared with advertisers.

Photos

Photos of ingredient labels are processed entirely on your device using an on-device text reader (Tesseract OCR running in your browser). Photos are never uploaded anywhere and are discarded after reading.

Internet use

The first scan downloads the open-source text-reading engine from a public CDN (jsDelivr). After that it is cached on your device and scanning works offline. No label content is ever transmitted.

Storage

Your scan history (text only, last 15 scans) is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing site data removes it.

About the ratings

Ingredient ratings are informational, based on public assessments by EFSA, IARC/WHO and peer-reviewed research. They are not medical advice. If you have allergies or medical conditions, always check with the manufacturer and your doctor.
